Yoga seems to have added another feather in its cap.

Indian researchers have said that yoga which comprises of breathing exercises, stretching, meditation and over all relaxation, can be extremely good for the heart.

The researchers at IIT-Roorkie in Uttarakhand found that the heart rate variability, which is a significant consideration for a healthy heart, was higher among those who practiced yoga rather than non-practitioners.

The researchers conducted a study with two small groups of men to verify the benefits of yoga on heart health.

During their preliminary study of  84 volunteers aged between 18 and 48 years , those that practised yoga regularly were benefited by the strengthening of parasympathetic (vagal) control which ensures an autonomic control over heart rate which  keeps the heart healthy.  Researchers found this after they analysed  The “HRV” spectra of the ECG’s.

Indeed, the benefits of yoga seem endless.
