Parents must be aware that some unexplained stomach pain in kids could have its roots in emotional problems.

A study which monitored 330 children with unexplained chronic abdominal pain revealed that children who were victims of FAPS carried a four to five times risk of suffering from anxiety disorders.
"People who are anxious tend to be very vigilant to threat, scanning their environment or their body for something that might be wrong," study author Lynn Walker.
"We think that chronic pain is better treated in a multidisciplinary fashion, in which you not only have to look for a disease. But you also look at emotional and psychological aspects of it, an address all of those together in an integrated fashion."
