Dr Deivanayagam, former director of Institute of Thoracic Medicine, Tambaram, said that though the strike is for a valid reason regarding the proposed reservation in elite educational institutions, it said that the doctors should not shrink from their duty of attending to patients. Representatives of various doctors' organizations led by Doctors Association for Social Equality (DASC) condemned the strike.
