U.K. Government to reduce waiting time of patients for non-emergency surgery

United Kingdom Government is planning to reduce the waiting time for non-emergency surgery to 18 months by the year 2008.

United Kingdom Ministry is planning for reduction of waiting time spent by patients before they had there surgery. The Government is planning to reduce the non-emergency surgery time to less // than 18 weeks from time of admission to NHS. Government is hoping the project will be made completed by the year 2008. Patients wait for long time for initial appointment with the doctor, for getting diagnostic and scan tests and also have to wait for specialty doctor’s appointment for consultancy before surgery. Though experts feel that the government’s plan may be ambitious to reduce the waiting time to less than 18 weeks but, feel that it is possible if there is more coordinated work plan to increase the productivity of treatment, government doctors should allot more time for consultation for outpatient and an interaction between the Government health service and private sector in specialty consultancy and in performing special diagnostic tests and scans.
