Vietnam administers Bird flu vaccination to all birds

Vietnam has told the press that it has completed the vaccination for all the poultry across the nation. It has reported that 242 million poultry were vaccinated across Vietnam.

According to the department of Animal Health, which comes under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Some of the birds were given a single dose of vaccination whereas others received a booster dose for prevention of the spread of the disease.

The poultry /birds were reviewed after the vaccination and was found that they were perfectly alright.

But the deputy director said that they have to completely analyze all the outcomes of the nationwide vaccination program.

Now recently 18 provinces were termed free of bird flu, as there was no new cases reported of bird flu for three weeks.

Hence the health officials declared these areas free of the disease. Finally it was spotted that only three areas still had cases of bird flu, which has to be tackled by the government.

The three areas are the two northern provinces of Cao Bang and Ha Giang and the central province of Quang Tri.

They have reduced the number of infected areas from 21 to three provinces. All this is possible due to the nationwide vaccination program.

Due to bird flu there arose a necessity to cull around 4 million fouls across Vietnam. Totally the number of dead and slaughtered poultry in the country in 2004 accounted to about 43 million.

The Vietnamese government plans to completely free the country from the holds of this deadly disease affecting both man and poultry.

It is also taken care all the possible measures to prevent the recurrence of this deadly disease.

The government also removed all bans regarding the import of all processed poultry products, live fowls, ornamental birds, related products and eggs from unaffected countries.
