Marathon boy Budhia Singh - who ran 65 km to get a place in the Limca Book of Records earlier this year - is yet to receive any funds promised by sports bodies or individuals, his coach said Tuesday.

Biranchi Das, the five-year-old boy's controversial coach, told reporters here that of the Rs.100 million promised to the boy he has not received even a single rupee.

Orissa doctors who examined Budhia had advised that the boy should not run long distances. They found that his blood urea level and blood pressure was were the higher side.

Budhia's father died in 2004 and his mother Sukanti Singh sold him for just Rs. 800.

"Orissa wants Budhia not to run. If proper attention and training is given to him he will excel internationally," the coach said.

Das alleged that the government was harassing him for coaching Budhia and feared he would be put in jail.

He said that Chhattisgarh had offered to adopt Budhia and has announced to honour the marathon boy on its National Sports Day.
