No stones were found in the tears of a Jharkhand girl who complained that she wept stones instead of tears, said the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) here Wednesday.
Savitri, a 13-year-old girl from Hajaribagh in Jharkhand, has been complaining of stones in her tears for the last two years. She was brought to the capital Tuesday for treatment."The initial investigation has not found any problem in her eyes. But we will conduct a series of tests and will keep her in the hospital for a few days to study the case," said J.S. Titiyal, the doctor who is treating the 13-year-old girl.
"There was some wax in her tears but no stones. Interestingly, the girl had brought some coloured stones and we are going to conduct tests on them as well. The tear glands will also be checked thoroughly before drawing a final conclusion," Titiyal told IANS.
Savitri will be admitted to AIMMS' R.P. Centre of Ophthalmology.
"We are going to admit Savitri in our special ward for a comprehensive examination by a team of senior doctors. We are curious to know the problem," said Shakti Gupta, medical superintendent of the centre.
"It's a unique case and all the treatment required will be free of cost," Gupta added.
