Children who took in 100 percent juice, consumed more of fruit, vitamins and minerals, and ate less fat , salt and sugars as compared to those who didn’t do all of these , stood to gain – not in terms of weight but in keeping good health. A new study conducted to examine the effects of 100% juice consumption on weight, has dispelled any connection to weight gain.

Reviewing data from a national health survey conducted from 1999 to 2002 and studying about 3,600 children aged 2-11, the study collected details about the diet of children in the 2 hours preceding the study. The weight and height of the children was recorded.

The kids had consumed about 4 ounces of 100 percent juice, on the previous day of the test. The study showed that even in the case of children who had consumed more juice, there appeared to be no risk of being overweight.

Weight is nothing but calories ingested and calories expended. The study did not elaborate whether the children who consumed 100 % juice turned out to be more energetic and active than those who didn’t. The study was sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Juice Products Association.
