A public form was held in Bega hospital recently to examine the worsening situation and implement appropriate corrective measures. The leaking roof and frequent air conditioning failures have forced the health officials to close operating services on several occasions. Furthermore, several other areas of concern have been identified in an inspection conducted recently.In response to the above situation, the Greater Southern Area Health Service is planning to set up demountable operating rooms to help meet the ever-increasing demand. The decision has also sparked conflict among health officials who feel that long-term solution has to be instituted at the earliest.
