Research done by Catherine Gibson, a research fellow at the Women's and Children's Hospital in Adelaide, Australia reveals shocking results about brain damage.
Viral infections at birth lead to severe damage of the brain tissue and cause cerebral palsy.A comparison study was conducted in which 443 babies suffering from cerebral palsy were compared with 883 normal babies.
The results were very shocking as most of the babies with cerebral palsy were found to have Herpes group B nucleic acid in their blood.
Basically there are many Herpes virus but only eight of them affect humans and cause brain damage.
Herpes simplex –cold sores and genital sores, Varicella zoster-chickenpox and shingles, herpes viruses 6 and 7 are harmless. Hence all adults carry Varicella zoster and herpes 6 and 7 viruses in their body.
It is found that babies suffer brain damage only when they are exposed to viral infection before or after birth.

In case of children with cerebral palsy the common symptoms are compromised learning skills, affected speech and problems related with motor nerves. They also have difficulty in proper co-ordination of the movement.
