Hollywood actress and comedienne Wanda Sykes revealed that she underwent double mastectomy after she was diagnosed with breast cancer
Hollywood actress and comedienne Wanda Sykes revealed that she underwent double mastectomy after she was diagnosed with breast cancer when she had a breast reduction surgery back in February. Speaking on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”, Sykes revealed that she was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) in her left breast after the breast reduction surgery had been completed.
She added that though she had a choice of going back to check the progress of the cancer for every three months, she decided to opt for double mastectomy since her mother's side of the family had a history of breast cancer.
“I had both breasts removed, because now I have zero chance of having breast cancer. It sounds scary up front, but what do you want? Do you want to wait and not be as fortunate when it comes back and it's too late?” she said.
