Experts at the National Conference on Tackling Nutritional Challenges Among the diabetic Young say that none of the weight loss solutions currently available are functioning on any reliable logical science and lead to several linked complications. "Lately, centres selling weight-loss in kilos and companies offering weight loss pills and drinks have cropped up as quick-fix solution. Most of them lack a holistic and customized approach, leading to various related health problems," said Manjari Chandra, senior nutritionist from Nutritionistsrepublic.com after attending the discussion, organised by Anna Adarsh Women's College, Chennai and Panacea Health Education.
The cases discussed were of unsuccessful weight-loss attempts. All three cases basically revolved around the malpractices and unscientific approaches found quite often in presently available methods of weight loss.
The first case discussed was of 27-year-old banker, who joined a weight-loss centre but could not achieve weight-loss even after trying almost everything they offered over a period of two years.
The second case was of 36-year-old lecturer having hypothyroidism; she tried a 'blood group diet' but soon regained all the weight after leaving the programme.
The third case was of 24-year-old girl who wanted to lose weight because of family pressure. She tried stand alone products and rather than losing weight, suffered badly from its side-effects.
From irrational diet plans to unscientific methods like body massages and appliance sessions, and from stand-alone weight loss products to the single-point half-baked approaches; the cases discussed, covered almost every difficulty one might face in the course of weight loss in the country at present.

"The problem with most of the weight-loss centers and products is that instead of making the person understand the science and logic behind the weight gain, they merely work on creating easy and shortcut methods of weight loss, which could be as irrational as 'mono-diet and sauna bath'," said Divyaa Ravi of Fitness One Group India Ltd.

A corporate presentation on Leisa's Secret Weight-Loss Programme was discussed extensively among nutritionists present, owing to its attributes and scientific approach, which if executed. as offered could become a perfect solution for all weight loss problems.
"The programme seems just right, especially when it talks about increasing BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) of the body, having all organic components, surveillance and mid-course correction. These attributes make this weight loss program most scientific, holistic and customized," Ravi added.
