Weight Standards in Buses Likely to Change Due to Overweight Passengers
The federal agency in charge of bus safety has said that it might be a good idea to increase the estimated weight of each passenger by 25 pounds. This has been proposed keeping in view the alterations to the average weight of Americans.
Using the data in 2008, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has calculated a mean average of 195 pounds for men and 165 pounds for women.

If the proposal is accepted, buses will be redesigned to accommodate less number of passengers. The buses will also have bulkier chassis.
