Doctors from Rhode Island New York have described as remarkable findings that show some teenagers fear not getting pregnant as opposed to the contrary.
This can be termed significant, as choices in contraception are made based on this. Out of studies carried out involving 300 adolescents, almost half expressed fears of not getting pregnant.Writing in the journal Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr Emily White says that the assumption that teenagers do not want to get pregnant is probably the base of most prevent -pregnancy campaigns.
Misinterpreted sources of information (like talk shows), the presence of an infertile relative and the desire to conceive at a later stage many actually propel these teens towards unprotected sex, in a bid to test their infertility.
More such surveys are needed according to White and colleagues as these fears can seriously influence decisions made on contraception.
