Woman Dies After Rare Brain Disease is Misdiagnosed as Depression
Mistaking symptoms for those of depression, Jane Harrop , 30, died as she did not receive appropriate treatment for a rare brain virus which affected her brain and spine.
Excruciating headaches made her rush to a specialist, and strangely she was not advised further investigation to ascertain the reason behind the severe headaches.

Instead specialists felt the reason behind these symptoms was depression, as Jane desperately wanted to conceive and was having trouble doing so.

Her condition got worse and a week after she was admitted to hospital, Jane succumbed to her illness.

Pathologist Dr. Martin Carey explained that Harrop's death was due to swelling of the brain and spine triggered by a virus. The headaches were actually an initial symptom of meningo-myeloencephalitis.
