A new survey has found that recession-hit fashionistas in the UK are hiring designer stilettos for as little as 40 pounds-a-week to make a statement at events and parties.

Girls, who could usually only dream of spending 800 pounds for a pair of Jimmy Choos or Christian Louboutins are flocking to rent them instead.
