One in three women are convinced that sleep deprivation has a negative impact on their looks almost fours days a week. Whereas one in ten say they can see its effects every day. According to the survey conducted by the Sleep Council on 1,400 women, nearly one in three women admit they are regularly late for work because they feel so shattered in the morning, while one in six have actually rung in sick and one in 10 has got to the office and then fallen asleep.
While nine out of 10 women know that a good night's sleep is the best tonic, only half actually manage a lie-in or an early night.
What the survey describes as an "epidemic of fatigue", women say that a lack of sleep is leaving them looking washed out with pasty skin and shadows, bags under their eyes.
"Women should not underestimate the value of beauty sleep," the Daily Express quoted Oonagh Connor, a celebrity make-up artist as saying.
