Thousands of wealthy mothers are quitting their jobs to care for their child themselves, instead of handing them over to nurseries or childminders, a new study revealed. The research, which is commissioned by the Department for Education, has revealed that that the percentage of families in the top 20 per cent income bracket using formal childcare has fallen from 67 per cent to 60 per cent in just a year, the Independent reported.
According to the study, six out of 10 working mothers would prefer to have a part-time job and four in 10 said that they want to quit in order to spend more time with their children.
