A new world record was set by a group of Taiwanese farmers after they transplanted an incredible 2.1 hectares of rice in just 16 minutes and 20 seconds.
The 1,215 competitors in Taoyuan County, Northern Taiwan, broke the old record set in Thailand in 2010 when 904 people transplanted rice in 1.6 hectares in 35 minutes and 35 seconds, the Daily Mail reported.

According to the council, the eldest farmer taking part was 91 years old while the youngest was 16.

"This is the happiest day of my life as a farmer. There are so many people, but I got to stand in the middle. It's really fun, this event is good for agriculture," said 96-year-old farmer Chen Huo-Teng.

The purpose of the event was to promote rice consumption in Taiwan, the council stated.
