The one-eyed, three-legged dog named Gus, which had won the title of world’s ugliest pooch in June, died from cancer recently.
According to the St Petersburg Times in Florida, Gus, a Chinese Crested dog, had been nine when he passed away, the Daily Telegraph reported.Gus was a dog, which had come from humble origins, and had been rescued by his adopted family in Gulfport, Florida, after they learned that he was being kept in a crate inside a garage.
The dog was moving around on only three legs after one was amputated because of a skin tumour.
He later lost an eye while fighting with a cat.
Gus later went on to win the annual World’s Ugliest Dog contest at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in northern California.
His owner, Jeanenne Teed, had said that she would put the 1,600 dollars prize money from the contest toward the dog’s radiation treatment.
