Australia is facing the worst shortage of doctors since the World War II, according to the new president of the Royal Australian College of GPs. Professor Claire Jackson said that they were now looking to train more GPs to tackle the crisis.
"We now have a lot more medical students and thankfully a lot more register training positions this year than we did several years ago," she said at the GP10 conference in Cairns. "Our challenge as a college is to make sure all those students and registers get first-class training and support."
