Anti-aging treatments are generally considered flukes. However University of Michigan scientists have revealed that some of these treatments do help in overcoming markers of aging like wrinkles and creases.
The scientists said wrinkles are caused due to collagen collapse inside the skin and products like topical retinoic acid, carbon dioxide laser resurfacing and injections of cross-linked hyaluronic acid could take care of the problem."We have shown that if you make more collagen go in, it provides an environment in which fibroblasts recover and make more collagen,” said lead author John J. Voorhees, M.D., F.R.C.P., chair of the Department of Dermatology at the U-M Medical School.
The findings are based on a review of many studies conducted over the past decade and could allow consumers to make informed decisions when choosing such products.
