Medical negligence has cost a second life within 5months at Government Multispeciality Hopital in Chandigarh. It is alleged of gross negligence that led to fetal death due to wrong blood transfusion to an expectant mother. The woman’s hemoglobin level was 7.5 due to which she was advised blood transfusion.
Suman, who was in the 9month of her pregnancy, was admitted in GMH. The baby was normal when she was admitted in the hospital. The woman’s hemoglobin level was 7.5 due to which she was advised blood transfusion. The hospital referred her to PGI after she suffered kidney failure. On arrival the doctors claimed the fetus was already dead. GMH official spokesperson Dr. M.P. Singh said an inquiry has been set up and statements of all doctors and medical staff on duty have been recorded.

In similar such incident, Bulbul, who was pregnant, while waiting in the queue for blood tests, went into labor and delivered while standing. Due to which the baby's head hit the floor, leading to its death.
