During the inauguration of a Traditional Medicine and Yoga Center in Turkmenistan, Modi said that performing yogasanas is healthy for body and soul.
Yoga is an ancient Indian spiritual discipline, which includes breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures. While inaugurating a Traditional Medicine and Yoga Center in Turkmenistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said, "Yoga teaches human beings how to live." The Prime Minister further added, "It’s aim is not just physical exercise. It also touches the mind and soul. Practicing yoga regularly is extremely important to learn different asanas. I met Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly today. He said that he would set up a world class yoga center in this country and people will see what change yoga brings and that he will make this country the prayog bhumi of that."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a bust of Mahatma Gandhi in Ashgabat. This is the first visit to Turkmenistan by an Indian Prime Minister after PV Narasimha Rao visited the country in 1995.
