Former US National Institutes of Health director Elias Zerhouni has taken a significant step in becoming a part of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation's global health program.
Former US National Institutes of Health director Elias Zerhouni has taken a significant step in becoming a part of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation's global health program.
Zerhouni, 57, described as an experienced scientific leader and influential voice for scientific innovation, will join the program as a senior fellow."Doctor Zerhouni has an extraordinary record of championing breakthrough science that leads to tangible health benefits for people in need," said Dr. Tachi Yamada, president of the foundation's Global Health Program.
"We are delighted that he will bring that innovative spirit and transformative thinking to the foundation's global health work."
As senior fellow, Zerhouni will advise the foundation on range of topics with emphasis on helping to identify and solve challenges in global health, the foundation said in a statement.
