On studies conducted till date it is believed that ½ to 1 clove garlic daily reduces blood cholesterol by 9%. No adverse effects on health have been reported so far on over consumption.

Bad Breath

This is a common problem faced by all and is the main deterrent in garlic consumption. But the irony is you cannot escape. Chemicals in garlic travel through the blood stream. Try deodorised garlic, eat a spring of parsley or strawberries to mask the garlicky odour.

Whatever the pros and cons, garlic scores very high on the positive side and does wonders for health. Subjects with sulphur allergy should avoid it though!

It is said that if garlic was produced in the lab and not free in nature it would be a highly priced drug. So thank God for it!
