Symptoms
The symptoms of swine flu closely resemble the symptoms of influenza-like illnesses. The severity of the disease can vary from mild to very severe. The common flu like symptoms include -
- Chills and fever
- Severe headache
- Sore throat
- Muscle/joint pain
- Dry cough
- Runny nose
- General weakness/fatigue/discomfort
- Fever
In the 2009 swine flu outbreak many patients reported
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhoea
- Pneumonia
- Respiratory failure
In children the Flu-like symptoms may get worse with a continuous cough. Symptoms in children maybe more pronounced and serious and perhaps a cause of concern:–
- Breathing maybe troubled or fast
- Skin color may have bluish tinge
- There maybe a rash with fever
- Nausea may present as not drinking enough
- The child maybe listless
Severe symptoms in adults include:-
- Difficulty with breathing
- Shortness of breath
- Pain over chest or abdomen
- Dizziness
- Confusion
- Severe or persistent vomiting
