What is Brow Lift?

Brow lift or forehead lift is a cosmetic surgical procedure which is performed to tighten sagging tissues in the forehead, eyebrows and sagging upper eyelids. It reduces the deep wrinkle lines across the forehead and vertical frown lines between the eyes. This forehead rejuvenation procedure can raise the eyebrows and restore a smoother and youthful contour to the upper portion of the face.

The forehead lift is usually performed with other cosmetic procedures such as upper or lower eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), facelift or skin resurfacing techniques.

A brow lift is also known as forehead lift, browplasty, brow tuck, forehead tuck, and browpexy.

What are the Types of Brow Lift Surgery?

There are three types of brow lift surgery and the most suitable technique for you will be determined based on the level of sagginess and position of your brow.

  1. Endoscopic Brow Lift: This procedure involves making a series of short incisions about three fourths inches in length just behind the hairline. A thin tube fitted with a light and miniature camera at its tip (endoscope) is inserted through one of the incisions to view the internal structures. Then, the surgeon lifts the underlying tissues of the forehead to remove excess fat and tissue and reposition the muscles for a more youthful look.
  2. Temporal Incision Brow Lift: This procedure is most commonly performed together with eyelid surgery. The cosmetic surgeon makes incisions about one inch long above each temple to lift and reposition the outer brow.
  3. Coronal Brow Lift: This classic procedure involves making one big incision behind the front hairline from ear to ear. This technique was once the standard, but nowadays has been replaced with lesser invasive techniques.

Who Should Undergo this Brow Lift Surgery?

Mostly, people in their forties or older undergo brow lift surgery. As we age, our muscles lose their elasticity and firmness which leads to wrinkle and frown lines on the face. If you are concerned or unhappy about the wrinkles and creases on the forehead or if it is affecting your social relationships then you are an ideal candidate for brow lift surgery.

People in Their Forties or Above Undergo Brow Lift Surgery

Also, repeated facial expressions such as frowning or excessive exposure to the sun cause our skin to sag and develop premature creases and wrinkles. If your face always appears tired or grouchy or you have sagging upper eyelids even though you are otherwise in good health, brow lift surgery can be considered.

If you want to maintain youthful looks in your later stages of life and are willing to go under the knife, brow lift cosmetic procedure can be helpful.
