Health Tips

Do ensure that you consult a travel health expert 4-6 weeks before you set course overseas. He or she will advise you as to the vaccines necessary, medications you must carry and other information on protecting yourself from illness and injury while traveling. Your travel health expert will also give valuable information on any disease outbreak or other health risks that maybe prevalent in the country of your visit.

If you are on medication, you must carry your medicines and prescription. This little precaution will keep you in good health in your country of visit.

Most countries do not grant its citizens medicare benefits while receiving treatment overseas; but countries like Australia have ‘Reciprocal Health Care Agreements’ with other nations, such as New Zealand. This means that an Australian resident visiting New Zealand or a New Zealander visiting Australia are entitled to limited subsidized medical services while on tour in the respective countries. Do check if your country too has such medicare tie-ups with other nations.

It is also strongly recommended that you take a private travel health insurance to tide over any eventuality that may arise whilst visiting another country.
