Special Needs and Assistance During Flight
Expectant Mothers
Before making travel plans and reservations, an expectant mother should consult her Gynecologist and get guidance.
She should get a medical certificate issued by her Gynecologist, certifying fitness to travel, stating the number of weeks of pregnancy and the due date of delivery. This certificate is required at the time of booking the ticket. If the actual travel date is more than a month away from the date of booking, she should submit a new ‘fit to travel’ certificate, dated 3 - 4 days prior to the date of departure, depending on the rules of the Airlines she intends to fly.
Most of the leading Airlines restrict expectant mothers from traveling beyond 35 weeks of pregnancy.
