Traveling to America
Recommended Vaccination
Before entering the United States, it is recommended that you take vaccines for vaccine-preventable diseases. The United States Department of Health and Human services has provided printable versions of vaccination screening forms to help you decide which vaccine you must receive or is necessary. With the help of a doctor, you can decide your immunization schedule before that U.S. trip.
Routine vaccines
These are vaccines given globally against diseases like influenza, chickenpox (or varicella), polio, measles/mumps/rubella (MMR), and diphtheria/pertussis/tetanus (DPT).
Routine vaccines are given at all stages of life; even for those who do not travel.
Recently, the United States has added vaccination against human papilloma virus (HPV) to the list. This vaccination is especialy recommended for women below 26 years.
Though many of these ailments rarely occur in America, visitors are still advised to take these vaccines.
Hepatitis B: Recommended for all unvaccinated persons; especially advised for those who might have sexual contact with the locals or be exposed to blood or other body fluids through other sources such as medical treatment.
Rabies Vaccine: It is especially recommended for children, animal handlers and cave explorers.
This vaccine is not mandatory for entry into the United States.
Cough & Cold : Exposure to communicable or common diseases such as cough and cold is unavoidable for travelers, whether on foreign soils or on homeground; it is exposure to a disease endemic to the region they are visiting, that poses a greater risk to their health. So,it is best to take precautions so that you remain healthy for the period of stay in any alien land.
However, if worried and traveling during the autumn or winter season, one can take the vaccine against the Influenza virus.
