Aspirin or acetylsalicylic acid is prescribed for fever, migraine, toothache, menstrual pain, swelling, and blood clots. It can also prevent ischemic strokes and heart attack in people suffering from angina. Aspirin, when given immediately after a heart attack, reduces the risk of death.
